Flash 55 – Buried Secrets

A foot and a half of dense snow could not hide the stench of the rotting body. They brought the dogs in to hunt for the cadaver knowing the cold white blanket would not last long enough to prevent future decomposition. Gathering the evidence of the murder took precedence over warming their cold wet feet.

Flash 55 is hosted by G-Man (Mr. Knowitall). The idea is to write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you’ve posted your 55. Thanks G-man for hosting.

  1. after the snow we are getting today, you may need those dogs to find me. lol. great 55. love that you left a lot of the story open to interpretation…

    mine is up!

  2. I can’t believe all that snow! and I was facing summer less than 48 hrs ago… I am currently dealing with jet lag and saying hello 🙂

  3. True…but I never like the inlaws much anyway so the backyard was as far as I was going to bother carrying their bodies…

    Fun one…

  4. Awesome micro-mystery. I’m especially taken with the consonance (I think that’s what it’s called) in the last sentence with “evidence/precedence” very poetic.

What a fun writing exercise! I had a professor who wrote a book called Around the World in 50 Words where every day for a year he wrote fifty word entries. It was really interesting. I’d love to give this a try maybe next week!

  5. Excellent 55 my friend. One never thinks about the poor dogs 🙂 But they survive…too busy sniffing 🙂 LOL Have a great Friday 🙂

  6. Vanessa Kilmer…
